- If elected, I would support practical, measurable climate action that protects residents while keeping affordability and responsible use of taxpayer dollars at the centre of decision-making. I would work with Whitby Council and Durham Region to implement and regularly measure the results of existing climate plans rather than simply announcing new targets.
- My priorities would include improving the energy efficiency of municipal buildings, evaluating renewable energy and battery storage where technically and financially appropriate, expanding reliable public transit and active transportation options, protecting and expanding Whitby’s tree canopy and natural areas, and strengthening stormwater and flood-resilience infrastructure.
- I would also support programs that help residents and businesses reduce their energy costs through efficiency improvements and retrofits. As Whitby grows, I believe new development and major infrastructure proposals should be evaluated for their long-term effects on transportation, utilities, water, the environment and municipal finances.
- Climate policy should produce measurable results. I would support transparent reporting so residents can see the costs, savings, emissions reductions and progress associated with municipal initiatives. My goal would be a Whitby that is environmentally resilient, financially responsible and prepared for future growth.
